A few years ago, I combined my love for creating with my knowledge of business strategy by starting an Etsy shop, GoThread, where I sell my handmade crocheted creations and learn about standard business practices everyday.
From craft shows, to custom orders, to social media management, my hobby has allowed to follow my passion.

Starting GoThread

Objective:
I created GoThread as a way to transform a long-time passion for crochet into a hands-on learning experience in small business management. The goal was to explore every step of running an independent creative brand, from product design and pricing to customer service and online marketing, while developing essential business and entrepreneurial skills along the way.
Outcome:
Through intentional branding, high-quality product photography, and consistent attention to customer satisfaction, GoThread has grown into a successful Etsy shop with positive reviews and repeat customers. Strategic decisions such as offering free shipping, creating cohesive product listings, and maintaining authentic branding have helped build a loyal community and strengthen my shop’s reputation.
Expanding to In-Person Sales

Expanding Through In-Person Sales:
For GoThread, growth remains an ongoing goal, achieved through the continued use of SEO strategies, data-driven decision making, and insights from Etsy analytics. GoThread continues to expand its reach and visibility within the handmade marketplace.
In addition to operating online, GoThread actively participates in craft shows and pop-up markets, creating valuable opportunities for direct customer engagement. These in-person events allow for real-time feedback, relationship building, and increased brand visibility within the local community. Selling face-to-face strengthens brand recognition and trust.
Social Media Management

Objective:
My objective by creating social media pages (on Tik Tok and Instagram) for GoThread was to spread awareness about my products that would lead to conversions. I attempted this by sharing a variety of media, from reels, short and long form content, and photos that showed authenticity.
Outcome:
By doing this, I was able to achieve over almost 3,000 followers between both platforms, which remain growing everyday. I cater my content to my target audience, and create compelling, aesthetic, and interesting media that turns post engagement into sales.
Content Creation

Objective:
When it comes to creating content for GoThread’s social medias, my priority is to creative clean, aesthetic content that drives impressions and engagement. To do this, I ensure all of my content is recorded or photographed in ideal lighting and post a variety of content often.
Outcome:
By posting a mix of reels, trends, graphics, static imagery, and consistent stories, I’ve been able to drive impressions and engagement on my platforms significantly. By following trends, I’m aligning with my target audience and presenting my product in a way that encourages them to purchase.
